- SPIRITUAL LIFE
Our Teen Learning Community is designed to provide space for teens from 8th through 12th grade to spend time with their friends in an informal Jewish setting. Our teens build lasting friendships through engaging programs and activities from our Annual Retreat to Shabbat Sleepovers to trips to the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. and more.
With TLC2, we are adding USY to our community. USY, the Conservative Jewish youth movement, inspires Jewish youth to explore and celebrate ethical values, Jewish living, Zionism, and community responsibility. USY has provided leadership development, year-round programs, and lifelong friendships for 60+ years.
At CSS, our teens explore what it means to be a Jew in the 21st century. TLC meets twice a month on Wednesdays to discuss topics of Jewish content and relevant to teens. In addition to our social activities, TLC regularly volunteers for social action projects such as working with kids with disabilities and packing food for the Jewish Relief Agency. By celebrating these important moments together, we hope to further their connections to Judaism.
For more information on TLC2 or USY, please contact Jessica Beaver at Jessica@shaareshamayim.org
As part of our commitment to lifelong learning, CSS offers a fun, exciting, and challenging confirmation class where the students will deal with the major issues of their lives and learn what Judaism has to say about those issues.
To find out more about joining our Confirmation class, please contact Jacques Lurie at Jacques@shaareshamayim.org or call the office at 215-677-1600.
Our College Outreach program works to keep our college students connected with Shaare Shamayim and Jewish Life. Our much anticipated care-packages are sent to our college students several times a year with Jewish holiday fun and games, and of course food! If you are a parent of a college student, please e-mail their name, school address, and expected graduation date to Gwen Lurie at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will add them to the College Mailing List. If any students' information has changed, parents may also e-mail an update to Gwen Lurie or call the office at 215-677-1600.
