Social Action

At CSS, we are a community of individuals committed to Tikkun Olam — repairing the world.  Compelled by the Jewish concepts to tzedakah, tikkun olam, and mitzvot, we use our collective power to strengthen our communities and make a lasting difference in the world.  There are opportunities to for all members to participate in a wide range of activities.

Beyond the important volunteer work integral to the functioning of the synagogue, many of our members participate in projects to relieve poverty, alleviate food insecurity, protect the environment, and more.  We sponsor many social action projects and partner with other local non-profit agencies to address the needs of our community.

Some of our ongoing or annual events include:

  • Cook-For-A-Friend
  • Sisterhood Baby Shower (benefits clients of Jewish Family and Children's Services)
  • The Mark Savrin and Al Rosenzweig Red Cross Blood Drive
  • High Holiday Food Drive
  • Jewish Relief Agency Day
  • Paper and Cardboard Recycling Program
