Teen Learning Community (TLC)
The Teen Leaning Community (T.L.C.) is committed to the concept that adolescent Jewish education is critical for creating “conscious” Jews, who will, optimally, be productive members of the larger Jewish community. While elementary school Jewish education is crucial to establishing basic skills, it is for the most part not enough to provide a lifetime feeling of connectedness and commitment to the religion. We strive to provide a safe and loving environment so our teens can personally explore their Judaism, learn and question and also gain the tools to sustain and ultimately internalize their Judaism as something uniquely theirs. This community is comprised of resources and activities that strengthen the partnership of shul, school and home. Education and socialization is enhanced by adolescent only, parent only, and joint teen and parent programming. The formal and informal learning has included projects, day trips, retreats, classes and family activities.
