Men's Club

Congregations of Shaare Shamayim Men's Club is a vital part of congregational life.  Our purpose is to make a meaningful contribution to the religious and social life of the congregation, while promoting camaraderie among members and developing future synagogue leaders.

Our many programs are designed to attract all members and provide them with opportunities to share activities and experiences.  We construct the synagogue's sukkah, sponsor the Annual Red Cross Blood Drive, provide a yellow candle to synagogue families to be lit in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, and host our ever popular Beef N' Beer in June.

The Golden Age of Music: The Singers and Big Bands of the 1930s and 40s
Thursday, December 21 at 7pm
Come for our special guest speaker, Herb Kaufman.  The late 1930s through the 40s are referred to as the "Golden Age of the American Song Book." This is a fun and nostalgic look at a musical sentimental journey back to the singers and big bands that had America "jumin & jivin" in theaters, ballrooms, and dance halls.  No charge.  Everyone is welcome.
Schmooze with The Word Mavens
Joyce Eisenberg & Ellen Scolnic are authors of the Dictionary of Jewish Words.  Join us for this hilarious program from two ladies who know the difference between a dreidel and a draykop.  Come reminsce about your favorite Jewish holidays, compare rugelach vs. schnecken and learn a bissel Yiddish.  $5 per person.  The dictionary will be for sale ($18) and you can have it autographed by the authors.  Light refreshments will be served.  Please RSVP to the synagogue office.
