Seniors Going On

Congregations of Shaare Shamayim

BETH JUDAH-BETH TEFILATH ISRAEL-RODEPH ZEDEK-

                 BETH CHAIM-BETH EMETH-B'NAI YITZHOK

There was a growing need to address members who are widows and widowers and were seeking a social outlet, therefore a new group was established.  The Congregations of Shaare Shamayim “Seniors Going On” (formerly Widow and Widowers) is open to all who fall into this category, even non-members of C.S.S.

The group meets the 3rd Thursday of every month and has invited guest speakers to lecture on topics of interest to the group.  Members of this group are able to share and bond with each other on issues with a “we know how you feel” sensitivity.  Iz Goldberg encourages those who are interested to contact him @215-552-9893 for further information.

We are a Chavurah of the Congregations of Shaare Shamayim.  Our members are past PTA, but not quite ready for Young Seniors.  We are a small social group, but anxious to expand. We enjoy the camaraderie that has developed while we have been in each other’s company.

Some of our events have been Shabbat dinners, bagel brunches, a studio tour and shopping trip to QVC.

This year, we are planning more Shabbat dinners, after which we will join Friday night services.  We are also planning to attend sporting events, such as a Philadelphia Phantoms minor-league hockey game at the Wachovia Spectrum, a Philadelphia Soul Arena Football League game at the Wachovia Center and a casino trip or possibly a trip to Dover Downs.

If you are interested and you meet the criteria, please call the Synagogue office or watch the weekly Synagogue E-mail for more information on the Mid-Life Maniacs.
